Running from Emptiness


If you’ve ever felt empty

You know it’s quite

Intolerable

Feeling like there’s something missing


I try to

Fill

Myself

With

Food and drink

Busyness


To avoid

Feeling the void

But really

I am just chasing

A feeling


From one activity to the next

From one bite to another

Sometimes it feels like a race

I didn’t sign up for

And by running

I’m really just running from myself


But then there are times

Lately

When I tell myself to slow down

Stop

Breathe

Do one thing at a time


And then I realize

I feel
